Terms of Service
Last updated: October 14, 2026
1. About the service
Repostream ("we", "us") shows how quickly public GitHub repositories gain stars, and offers star history charts and badges you can embed in READMEs. By using the site or embeds you agree to these terms.
2. Where the data comes from
Repository information is retrieved from GitHub's public REST API and stored as periodic snapshots. Repostream is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by GitHub, Inc. Use of GitHub data is also subject to GitHub's own terms. Figures can be delayed, incomplete or wrong because of API limits, outages or changes on GitHub.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, crawl or bulk download the site or its endpoints in a way that degrades the service;
- attempt to bypass caching, rate limits or security measures, or probe for vulnerabilities without permission;
- use the service to manipulate GitHub stars or rankings, or to misrepresent a project's popularity;
- use the service for anything unlawful, or to harass any person;
- imply that Repostream or GitHub endorses you or your project.
We may limit or block access that breaks these rules.
4. Embeds and badges
You may embed our chart and badge images in your READMEs and websites, linked back to Repostream. Images are cached and refreshed periodically, so they may not show the very latest numbers.
5. No warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Do not rely on Repostream for investment, hiring or other important decisions.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Repostream and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, which for the free service is zero.
7. Trademarks
GitHub and the GitHub logo are trademarks of GitHub, Inc. Repository names and avatars belong to their respective owners.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use the service means you accept the updated terms.
