The short version
You do not need an account. We show third-party ads (Google AdSense) to support the site, but we never sell your data or build our own profiles of visitors.
What we do not collect
- No accounts, names, email addresses or passwords.
- No accounts or personal profiles built by us. (Third-party advertising partners such as Google may set their own cookies. See the Advertising and Cookies section below.)
- Your watchlist and theme are never sent to us.
What we do collect
- Public GitHub data: names, descriptions, owner avatars and star and fork counts of public repositories, retrieved from GitHub's public API.
- Repository lookups: when you look up a repository or an embed is viewed, we cache that public repository's star history.
- Server logs: our hosting provider keeps standard request logs (such as IP address, browser type and page requested) to run and secure the service.
Cookies, local storage and analytics
We use your browser's local storage only for essential things: your theme, your watchlist and your cookie choice. Optional analytics are off by default and only switch on if you choose "Allow analytics" in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer.
Advertising and Cookies
Repostream uses third-party advertising, including Google AdSense, to display ads on this site.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.

Data retention
- Repository snapshots are kept to show history over time.
- Cached star history is refreshed about every 12 hours.
- Server request logs are kept for a limited period by our hosting provider, then deleted.
- Local storage stays in your browser until you clear it.

If you own a repository and want it removed from Repostream, or have any privacy question or request, email us and we will respond promptly.
